To most Reno residents, it is just an empty lot, but to Chip Bowlby it is an empty canvas. The land developer unveiled plans Wednesday for a new master-planned community at the site of the old Park Lane Mall.
“The project right now consists of 1235 residential units, 110,000 square feet of retail space and 100,000 square feet of professional offices,” Bowlby said of the project at a Reno City Council meeting.
The different uses will be intermixed. Housing will be located near markets and offices will be near retail.
The development will be designed to get people out of their homes and into their community.
“The whole notion of designing apartments today is very different than it was 10, 12, 15, 20 years ago,” said Rick Emsick, President of MVE Partners, the design firm on the project.
