RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Construction was supposed to begin at the old park lane mall site in April, but passersby have probably noticed it’s still a big empty parking lot,
The developer and CEO of Reno Land Inc. plans to build more than a thousand housing units there, along with more than 200,000 square feet of retail and office space on the 46-acre site.
Chip Bowlby says crews will now start construction late this month, or early June.
“You’ll see all of this asphalt torn up. You’ll see a lot of heavy equipment out here digging for utility lines,” Bowlby said.
“It’s been blighted for seven years; it’s been vacant,” he continued. “I think that everybody is kind of cheering us on, to get this thing going, to turn it into something special for the City of Reno.”
Bowlby said crews will start construction on apartments in July or August. He said they’ll be ready for move-in next spring and retail shops will start opening shortly after.
