What’s Happing at Downtown’s Old Mall?

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — After nearly a decade of sitting vacant, the former Park Lane Mall site will finally see new life when Reno Land Inc. breaks ground this spring on a mixed-use development project.

The 45-acre site will eventually be home to 725 residential units, 110,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and 100,000 square feet of offices. Homes will range from studios to three-bedroom units.

“We can’t be a great region without a great downtown, but after that the site that really is most important to [Reno’s] revitalization in the Park Lane Mall site,” Reno city councilwoman Jenny Brekhus said.

The City of Reno awarded Reno Land Inc. $3.5 million in subsidies to go toward storm drains and sewer infrastructure.
Across the street, the owners of Shoppers Square are planning to revitalize that shopping center too.

On Plumb and Kietzke lanes, the Carrows Restaurant is being refurbished into a new restaurant called Redwood Rotisserie.
